Produced / Directed by Colin Glaum
In 2010, Aaron was asked by producer/creative director Colin Glaum to create a 30 minute modern dance ballet for Danza Contemporánia de Cuba. The piece, entitled Horizonté was the brain child of Colin and choreographer Pedro Ruiz, himself a Cuban national and ex-pat.
This would mark the first time a Cuban-American choreographer would be able to work with a Cuban dance company. Horizonté made its world debut in Havana, Cuba in February 2011. Danza Contemporánia de Cuba would travel to the United States in the spring of 2011 where they performed the piece at the world famous Joyce Theater in NYC to sold out crowds.
Later that year, a 60 minute documentary entitled “Pedro Ruiz: Coming Home” featuring the music of Horizonté documented the creation of the ballet and Pedro’s return to his native Cuba. In 2012 the three would team up once again to create Ballet “El Camino” for Danza Del Alma in Santa Clara, Cuba. It made its world debut in January 2013.
